One of Canada’s foremost experts on Westminster style parliamentary practice, Rob brings a lifetime of impressive experience to the firm. He earned his LL.B. from the University of Alberta in 1990 and his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Political Studies from Queen’s University. Prior to attending law school, Rob worked at Alberta’s Department of Federal and Intergovernmental Affairs in the early ‘80s during the time of the constitutional negotiation.  He privately practiced constitutional, municipal, and regulatory law at Brownlee Fryett (now Brownlee LLP), before joining Alberta’s Legislative Assembly Office as Parliamentary Counsel in 1993. Rob was made Senior Parliamentary Counsel in 1997 and then Law Clerk and Director of Interparliamentary Relations in 2010, after which he served as Alberta’s 7th Legislative Assembly Clerk until 2018. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association. Rob was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2004.
